Prize winning design from WERMA
The signal technology manufacturer WERMA was honoured on 5 October 2007 with the "Focus Safety" design award for outstanding product design.
The District vice president, Josef Kreuzberger, praised the exceptionally high design quality of the WERMA Horn/Beacon combination type 424/425 in his speech in the Werkzentrum Weststadt in Ludwigsburg.
The Design Centre Stuttgart, an institution of the Baden-Württemberg federal state, awarded the international design award in the “Production, Industrial Safety” category.
Günter Kirn, Managing Director, is thrilled by the award as it represents the results of the company’s determination to produce high quality d and attractively designed products.
Design for safety
The Horn/beacon combination activates two senses for double safety: In addition to the signal for the ear produced by the horn, the beacon also sends a light signal to the human eye.
The award-winning product succeeds in combining style with functionality: The beaon emitting brilliant light and the conical horn merge seamlessly into one another thus forming an attractive signal device within a compact design.
WERMA design team – third design award in a row
With this latest distinction, the company’s products are being rewarded again for their outstanding design quality. Products from the signal technology manufacturer were already making an impression in 2005 and 2006 when they received the internationally sought-after “red dot” and “iF-Design” awards.
Why does WERMA place so much importance on the design of its products?
There are two reasons for this according to the Development Manager, Christian Höhler: On the one hand there is an increasing tendency for more aesthetically designs to be found in many areas of machine design. And, on the other hand, WERMA products are often used for signalling in public areas, for example at access control points or on baggage handling equipment in airports where such signalling devices need to be functionally effective and form an attractive part of the equipment itself.
