Determine and visualise OEE key figure

With the key figure availability, you can determine the ratio of planned productive time to actual productive time. To determine this key figure, a planned occupancy time must first be defined. This is realised via shift planning. The shifts and working times can be found on the administration page. To define shifts, proceed as follows:

Open the Administration area and click on Shifts and working times.

Now you must first create a shift group. A shift group is a bracket around all shift schedules. Here, for example, you could define an area such as assembly, injection moulding or electronics production as a shift group. As soon as you have created the shift group, you can create shift schedules.

When creating a shift plan, first enter the name of your plan. Additionally, you can create another description. Now enter the period of validity of your shift plan. If the shift plan has a period of validity without an end, do not enter an end. However, you always need a shift plan that covers the period in which you want to determine the OEE. In the next step, select the devices (your machines, your workstations). Bear in mind that a device can only ever run in one active shift. It is not possible to assign devices to several shift plans that are running at the same time. You can now save the framework parameters of your shift plan.

In the next step, you must create the shifts that exist within the shift plan. Click on "+" to create a new shift (your planned occupancy time). Here you can now enter the name of the shift and add a description if necessary. Next, define the start and end time of the shift by entering the corresponding times. Now define the days of the week on which the shift takes place. To do this, click on the individual days. The selected days are highlighted in colour. The last step in defining a shift is to enter the break times. A break is a planned non-productive time. Do not enter a break for a machine that is running continuously.

If you work in a 3-shift operation, you must create 3 shifts. Please note that shifts cannot overlap. Once you have gone through all these steps, you have created your first shifts and thus defined your planned occupancy time.

Once the planned occupancy time has been defined, you must define how the availability is calculated. You will find the OEE configuration for this in the Administration area. To create a new configuration, click on the "+". A dialogue opens in which you can define the new OEE configuration. Enter a name and, if necessary, a further description and select the availability mode that is relevant for your production. If you select the availability loss, define all characteristics that represent an availability loss in the characteristics. If you select the actual availability as the availability mode, select all characteristics that are considered productive for you.

In the following two fields, you can now set the threshold values from when you see a warning on the dashboard and from when your OEE key figure is optimal. In the next step, select the characteristics that apply to a loss of availability or to the actual availability. The final step is to define the shift group for which you want to determine the OEE. Once you have done this, you can save the new OEE configuration and use it on the dashboard.

To visualise your OEE key figures, switch to a dashboard. You can now add an OEE widget here. For the OEE widget, you now only need to assign the shift group and a add a description. The devices and times are now taken from your shift planning. You can now choose whether you want to see an OEE for the entire group or all individual devices.
