Step 1: Initial setup Hardware

To get the most out of WeASSIST, please follow the instructions below. This will ensure that your hardware is successfully set up and ready to use.

1. Setting up the hardware

The WERMA WeASSIST hardware consists of two components. These are the WeASSIST Gateway and the WeASSIST Transceiver.

WeASSIST Gateway

Article-Number:

  • 862.000.01 (868 MHz)
  • 862.000.02 (921 MHz)

WeASSIST Transceiver

Article-Number:

  • 862.000.03 (868 MHz)
  • 862.000.11 (868 MHz)
  • 862.000.05 (921 MHz)

2. Initial operation of WeASSIST Gateway

STEP 1
Connect the gateway to the internet using an RJ45 LAN cable.
STEP 2:
Connect the 24V power supply to the gateway and to the mains.

Network requirements

HTTPS (TCP Port 443)

  • e.g. for access to Azure IoT Hub and firmware downloads

NTP (UDP/TCP Port 123)

  • Time synchronisation is necessary, otherwise no HTTPS connection can be established
  • Optionally, an internal NTP server can be configured

Ggf. DNS (UDP Port 53)

  • If an external DNS server has been configured

In the factory settings, the gateway automatically connects to the network via DHCP. To change the network settings, please read the gateway commissioning instructions.

3. Initial operation of WeASSIST Transceiver

The WeASSIST transceiver is mounted on the connection element. The illuminated elements of the signal tower are in turn mounted on the WeASSIST transceiver.

The transceiver monitors the 24-V signals in the connection element and forwards them to the signal elements above. The functionality of the signal tower is not changed.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The connection element of the signal tower must be permanently supplied with power via the terminals ‘5’ (24 V AC/DC) and ‘0’ (ground/COM).

The lighting elements are controlled in the order 1 - 4 (from bottom to top) via the terminals 1 - 4.
