Greater transparency in manufacturing at Sicame UK thanks to WeASSIST

The Sicame Group is one of the world’s leading suppliers of equipment and service solutions for electricity grids. The Sicame UK site manufactures highly specialised components for electricity distribution.

In order to optimise production processes in a targeted manner, Sicame UK first needed complete transparency regarding machine statuses and downtime. With WERMA’s WeASSIST digital assistance system, the company successfully made the transition to data-driven production control and achieved a significant increase in production transparency.

Task

Before the introduction of WeASSIST, Sicame UK lacked a reliable data foundation for evaluating production processes. Machine downtime could not be systematically recorded or analysed, meaning that potential for optimisation remained largely hidden. The company was looking for a solution to make production processes more transparent and to implement improvements based on objective data.

Solution

In 2023, Sicame UK decided to introduce WeASSIST from WERMA. The decisive factors were the ease of implementation, the high level of flexibility and the ability to integrate machines from different manufacturers into a centralised system. The in-house maintenance team installed the signal towers themselves, whilst the IT department handled the network integration. A total of nine machines were connected to the system. Since then, WeASSIST has been automatically recording machine statuses, visualising the data in real time and providing a reliable basis for analysis and optimisation.
