Step 3: Device configuration in the software

1. Configure the gateway in the software

STEP 1:
The two icons ‘cloud’ and ‘radio frequency’ must be white. If the cloud (internet/cloud connection) is not lit, please check the start-up again.
STEP 2:
Add the gateway to WeASSIST by selecting the administration area

STEP 3:
Select devices and the Add Devices menu opens.
STEP 4:
Select gateway
STEP 5:
Enter the WEA-MAC of the gateway and the activation code that is printed on the label attached to the back of the gateway. The gateway is now assigned to the WeASSIST application.

2. Transceiver

2.1  Adding a transceiver

STEP 1:
The transceiver must be connected and integrated into the signal tower as described in Step 1: "Initial hardware setup" WeASSIST’.
STEP 2:
Add the transceiver to WeASSIST by selecting the administration area. Then select the Devices area.

STEP 3:
In the next step, select the plus sign. As soon as the WeASSIST transceiver is within radio range of the gateway, it will automatically be displayed under New Transceiver. The WeASSIST transceiver is listed with its WEA MAC (e.g. 13-11-E1). Click on Add to assign the WeASSIST transceiver to the WeASSIST application and incur a charge.

NOTE
The WEA MAC address can be found on the top of the transceiver.
STEP 4:
The new WeASSIST transceiver is now ready for configuration. The configuration of the WeASSIST transceiver is described in the following chapter.

2.2  Configuration of a transceiver

STEP 1:
After successfully adding the transceiver, you can make the following settings:

  • Field Name: By overwriting the WEA Mac address, you can name the WeASSIST transceiver according to the desired workplace, machine or system.
  • Field Short name: This is an optional field.
  • Field Time zone: Please select the time zone in which the WeASSIST transceiver is located.

STEP 2:
Configure the transceiver as a signal tower or head of line:

  • As a signal tower, the WeASSIST transceiver only transmits the status of the signal tower or enables the recording of quantities.
  • As head of line, the current status of the signal towers in the field is reflected at a central signal tower.

To configure it as a signal tower, please click on Next to open the configuration menu.

STEP 3:
Now create a digital twin, a copy of the physical signal tower in the field, of your signal tower and assign the desired functionalities to each available level.

Step a:
Select the level (e.g. level 1).

Step b:
Configure the level:

  • Level type: Select the colour.
  • Software-controlled level: A software-controlled level can only be activated or switched from the software. If the signal tower is switched by a machine or at the manual workstation, please do not activate this function.
  • Counter stage: When the counter stage is activated, quantities are recorded. Each 24 V pulse on the terminal in the connection element of the signal tower increases the counter value by +1.

Note: A level defined as a counter level cannot be used for status monitoring.

  • Blink detection: When activated, blinks can also be detected and monitored as a state. A distinction can be made between slow (1-5 Hz) and fast (5-15 Hz) blinking.

Step c:

  • Press Apply.
Repeat configuration step 3 for all levels until the physical signal tower is replicated.

By clicking on Save, you confirm the selection made and store the settings in the system.
