Task
In the area of battery assembly, the corresponding machines and accessories are assembled, packed and prepared for dispatch at 11 packing workstations in accordance with customer requirements. As there were waiting times for material or replenishment, the company saw a considerable need for optimisation here.
- Long waiting and idle times should be avoided or reduced
- Employees should be able to signal directly at their workstation when they need help, supplies or materials
- Traffic light system required - quick, clear and easy to understand
Solution
Metabo was already using signalling devices from WERMA and acted as the lead user for the ‘WeASSIST’ system solution from WERMA. This is an innovative plug & play solution for comprehensive monitoring of production and logistics processes.

The company started with four of the 11 workstations in the battery assembly area. The first implementation was so successful that three more workstations have since been equipped with WeASSIST.
