ITW GSE relies on the innovative lighting series from WERMA for its environmentally friendly, battery-powered ground power units.
Green concepts are becoming increasingly important for airports around the world. ITW GSE plays a central role here and, with its products, makes a significant contribution to considerably reducing the carbon footprint of airports and thus becoming cleaner and more environmentally friendly.
ITW GSE, for example, offers an alternative solution for ground power units (GPUs), which were previously exclusively diesel-powered. These battery-powered solutions are not only extremely quiet and emission-free, they also have lower operating costs, lower maintenance and longer operating times.

Task
If there is a problem with the voltage of the power cable to the aircraft, this is signalled immediately with an acoustic warning tone. Depending on customer requirements, the visual signals indicate functions such as charging or discharging or warn of vehicle movements, a low battery level or similar.

Solution
The common colours red, yellow, blue, green and white are available. The powerful lights are also extremely durable and maintenance-free thanks to LED technology.
For the audible alarm, ITW GSE relies on the loud multi-tone siren from the EvoSIGNAL series with 110 dB. "As soon as the horn sounds, the voltage in the power cable is too high. This happens, for example, when the genset moves away from the aircraft," says Frank.
