WERMA Signaltechnik has won the prestigious “iF product design award 2010”. The company received the prize for the design and manufacture of its “VarioSIGN” signal tower. The jury selected the WERMA product from around 2,500 submissions from 39 countries.
The product succeeded in standing out within a highly qualified and competitive international field.
Design as a success factor especially in times of economic uncertainty
The jury members evaluated the submissions in 16 product categories. The award-winning VarioSIGN scored strongly in the “industrial” category.
Especially in economically turbulent times, design functions as a success and value creation factor and, according to the jury, many of the products assessed set new standards. In the words of the chairman of the jury, Fritz Fenkler: “Good design is not borne from marketing measures, but is rather the product of skilled designers”.
iF rewards the bold design of the signal tower
In the words of R&D Director Christian Höhler, on receiving the award: “With our VarioSIGN we have given a completely redefined signal tower concept. The iF product design award and the feedback from our customers shows that our boldness has paid off!” The WERMA development team worked closely with the designer Jürgen R. Schmid from Design Tech. The result sets new standards:
Multi-talented signalling device blends into its environment
The LED signal tower VarioSIGN 690 from WERMA is a multi-talented signalling device. Just like a Chameleon, it blends into its surroundings: When not activated the tower is hardly noticeable - making it all the more attention-grabbing when it springs to life with colour, light effects and an audible signal.
The product can be either surface mounted or flush-fitted – enabling VarioSIGN to flexibly adapt to a range of different machine concepts.
WERMA honoured once again
WERMA has already received numerous awards for excellent design, production, personnel management and marketing. This is now the third time WERMA has been honoured with the iF product design award.
