Energy Efficiency Award 2022: WERMA among the TOP 15!

The signal device manufacturer has been nominated for the coveted award with its exemplary projects.

With the Energy Efficiency Award (EEA) the German Energy Agency (dena) honors outstanding corporate achievements in the field of energy efficiency and climate protection. This year, for the 16th time, companies from Germany and abroad had the opportunity to submit their projects and concepts for reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions in four categories. A jury of experts with representatives from business, politics, science and the media nominated the 15 best projects from around 130 entries for this year's award. Among them: WERMA Signaltechnik from Rietheim-Weilheim.

Exemplary contribution from WERMA

Erich Martin, Production Manager at WERMA Signaltechnik is delighted about the nomination of the project "Consistent utilization of waste heat from production processes using industrial heat pumps" and says: "It is a great honor for us to have been nominated for this award and shows that we are on the right track with our projects!".

When asked what, in his eyes, is special about the project for which WERMA has been nominated, he answers: "We are already consistently using the waste heat generated in our plastics production by means of powerful heat pumps. In this way we save the heating energy of a good 100 households."

Conserving resources and environmentally friendly

WERMA already acts in an exemplary, resource-saving and environmentally friendly manner in many areas. According to Erich Martin, the nominated project is "just one of many". He says: "We don't just talk about energy saving, climate protection relevance, innovation and cost-effectiveness, at WERMA we live this every day and put it into practice."

He proudly adds, "Soon, our new PV system with an output of 350 kWp will go into operation. With it, we will generate almost as much electricity as almost half of our employees consume in their private households."

Andreas Kuhlmann, Chairman of dena's Executive Board, said on the occasion of the announcement: "Never before has it been so important to focus on energy efficiency and climate protection. The companies nominated for the Energy Efficiency Award have found impressive solutions that make an exemplary contribution to saving fossil fuels and limited resources. They range from small businesses and medium-sized enterprises to internationally active companies: They all show that with innovative ideas and consistent entrepreneurial action, sustainable transformation is possible - and how it can succeed."
