Extreme conditions

Difficult environments and tamper protection

Reliably informed – even in difficult work environments

Wind and weather, heavy swell, or severe vibrations – WERMA signalling devices defy even the most adverse conditions. WERMA has developed outstanding signalling solutions to cope with the toughest demands. They are particularly well sealed, vibration resistant or robust.

Shock-resistant WERMA signalling devices – the tough solution

At unobserved public locations or in shunting areas, it is advisable to use shock-resistant signalling devices. Because these can take knocks and guarantee an uninterrupted useful life. WERMA offers you a wide range of signalling devices that are safe from damage thanks to their special design or a robust wire guard.

Signalling devices with high IP protection

What does the IP protection category of electronic devices mean?

The IP designation, such as “IP 67”, states how well an electrical device is protected from water or foreign bodies. The two numbers mean the following:

1. Digit: contact or foreign body – protection against
  • IP 6X – dust (dust-tight)
2. Digit: liquids and water – protection against:
  • IP X5 – projected water (nozzles) from all directions
  • IP X6 – powerfully projected water jets from all directions
  • IP X7 – temporary immersion
  • IP X9K – high pressure/steam-jet cleaning with water

Signalling devices with above-average IP protection

Seawater resistant signalling devices

Seawater is aggressive. With its high salt content, it attacks and wears down many materials. WERMA offers signalling devices that resist salt water and salty sea air: they comprise a corrosion-resistant diecast aluminium housing made of a high-quality, seawater-resistant alloy:

Robust signalling devices for construction sites

Signalling devices for construction sites have to withstand severe shaking and vibration. LED signalling devices are ideal here, since they

  • operate for up to ten times longer than conventional light bulbs.
  • withstand the strongest vibrations, thus dispensing with light bulb replacements.

WERMA has created special stabilised LED signalling devices for use in construction. RWE, for example, uses these today as warning devices on conveyor belts or the world’s largest excavator.
